International law firm DAC Beachcroft has appointed Tim Barr as a partner in its Lawyers' Liability practice, based in London.
Tim has been defending the legal profession for 20 years and was a professional negligence partner at WBD LLP for the last seven years. As a solicitor specialising in lawyers’ liability matters, Tim has advised many of the UK’s legal practices and is regarded as a trusted adviser to a number of the Top 50 law firms. Tim also advises solicitors on regulatory, disciplinary and risk-related issues and is recognised by Chambers & Partners and Lexology Index as a leading professional indemnity lawyer in this area. In addition, Tim regularly handles high value and complex insurance coverage disputes across all lines of professional indemnity.
"It's a great pleasure to welcome Tim to DACB," commented Liam O'Connell, partner and head of DACB's Global London insurance and disputes practice. "His arrival is a further demonstration of our commitment to building our Lawyers' Liability practice, and to achieving our strategic ambition to be the adviser of choice for the global insurance and professional services industries. Tim has a leading reputation in the professional liability market for his defence and regulatory work and will add considerable strength and expertise to our practice."
Tim added, "DACB's market-leading reputation in lawyers’ liability defence work combined with its strength and depth in London and in the regions make this an obvious move for me at this stage in my career. I look forward to working with the team to continue developing DACB’s reputation as the trusted advisor to the legal profession and its insurers.”
Tim's move follows the arrival of partner Sam Kneebone, who joined DACB's Lawyers' Liability practice in January, based in Bristol. Operating from offices across the UK, the Lawyers' Liability team has represented legal professionals in large City, regional and international law firms, as well as those in specialist partnerships.
