International law firm DAC Beachcroft has completed delivery of a multi-year grant to Action Tutoring, helping to fund the national expansion of the education charity's tutoring programmes across the UK.
Awarded in 2021, the £200,000 grant was distributed over four academic years to support Action Tutoring's ‘northern-belt’ programme. This funding enabled the charity to extend its reach and provide high-quality tutoring to more disadvantaged school pupils across the north of England, where they launched new programmes in Cheshire & Chester, Durham, Liverpool, Newcastle and Sheffield.
DACB first partnered with Action Tutoring in 2019 and has since played an active role in supporting the charity's mission to drive up attainment and ‘bridge the gap’ for disadvantaged pupils at risk of not achieving national standards in maths and English.
Over the past four years, 176 DACB colleagues have volunteered as tutors, delivering more than 2,100 hours of tutoring. In addition to supporting pupils in the north of England, DACB works with Action Tutoring across its other locations in Birmingham, Bristol and London.
Virginia Clegg, Senior Partner at DACB said, "We are delighted that Action Tutoring has been able to use this grant to extend its reach and help more pupils benefit from their support. I volunteer as a tutor myself and see firsthand the difference these programmes make for individual students. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Action Tutoring and helping even more young people reach their full potential."
Jen Fox, CEO of Action Tutoring, added, "Following the pandemic and the widespread disruption to learning, DAC Beachcroft's support came at a crucial time. Our long-term partnership has been invaluable in enabling us to reach more young people across the country.
"We are deeply grateful for DACB's ongoing commitment and the positive impact they help us create every day."
