• Matt was the lead associate on an instruction by a significant professional services firm and its professional indemnity insurers relating to a Financial Reporting Council investigation.

• Matt secured the instruction for, and is the lead associate in, the defence of a numerous claims against a leading firm of surveyors.

• He successfully helped to achieve the resolution of a claim, issued in the Hight Court, against a client law firm in connection with a professional negligence claim by the firm's former client regarding the sale of its debt management business.

• He was the lead associate advising a market of over 30 global insurers in relation to policy coverage issues arising from a claim exceeding EUR 300 million against a law firm policyholder emanating from the German cum/ex scandal.

• Matt was the lead associate advising a leading global insurer in connection with the pursuit of an £8 million claim against a binding authority agent arising from a delegated underwriting authority agreement. Matt was instrumental in helping to achieve a very positive outcome for the insurer client.

• He was the lead associate advising a market of several leading global insurers in relation to a multi-jurisdictional policy coverage dispute (involving issues of English, Swiss and Kuwaiti law) under a Civil Liability and Crime insurance policy relating to a claim potentially worth over $1 billion. The matter involves complex, high-value litigation filed in the High Court.

• For a number of years, Matt advised a market of civil liability insurers, across multiple years of account, of a major independent financial advisor in relation to complex, high value, claims from numerous of their former clients arising from various investment schemes, including in relation to film and music finance. The underlying issues involved complex tax related disputes with HMRC, and high value multi-party High Court litigation.
• Matt has been instructed by transactional liability insurers in a matter arising from an alleged breach of warranty following an HMRC investigation of the Target's waste management business, including HMRC's demands in relation to approximately £18 million of allegedly unpaid taxes.
