Michael studied Law at Queens University, Belfast, before being admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 2015 from the Institute of Professional Legal Studies. Michael joined McKinty and Wright in March 2017 with a background of experience in defence litigation, which became part of DAC Beachcroft in 2019. He has over 10 years' experience.

Michael is widely known in the Northern Ireland market for his experience in dealing with motor claims and in particular in the area of credit hire. Michael works closely with his team and clients to ensure that they are aware of and are adopting all the latest credit hire legal strategies to secure the most favourable case outcomes and change market behaviour.

Michael is a member of FOIL’s Northern Credit Hire SFT group and regularly presents at industry events.

Michael is also the wellbeing officer for the Belfast office and organises numerous events focused on this area for colleagues.

Featured experience:

• Managing a credit hire claim involving a highly specialist vehicle in the NI high court in which £100,00 was claimed. With a strategic approach to challenging the rate charged for the vehicle, Michael secured savings of over £50,000
• Dealing with a motor claim which was valued at over £400,000, which was resolved for £200,000 at the earliest stage in the proceedings
