  • Biography

    Eleanor specialises in insurance litigation, with a focus on property and public liability risks.

    She works with insurers and their customers to pursue and defend complex / high value property damage or products claims. 

    Eleanor regularly advises on policy coverage issues and associated disputes, including claims relating to material damage, business interruption, construction, and public and products liability.

    Eleanor’s relevant experience includes:

    • Allianz v University of Exeter (2023/2024) - advising the insurer in its successful defence of the University's Court of Appeal challenge relating to the application of a war exclusion clause following the detonation of a WWII bomb 
    • International Entertainment Holdings v Allianz (2023) – acting for the insurer in relation to business interruption coverage issues arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic 
    • Acting on behalf of the successful insurer in the widely reported TCC case of Leeds Beckett University v Travelers Insurance Company (2017), a multi-million-pound coverage dispute which considered the meaning of 'accidental damage'
