  • Biography

    Charlotte advises clients in relation to the defence of high-value claims relating to commercial contracts, data protection, product liability, intellectual property, and professional negligence.

    She advises in-house legal departments and corporate clients across a broad spectrum of sectors, representing them in proceedings at the High Court and Court of Appeal. She has significant experience in successfully representing clients at several different types of alternative dispute resolution forums, including at mediation and arbitration.

    Charlotte has successfully negotiated without prejudice settlements on behalf of clients in relation to commercial litigation, intellectual property, real estate, and professional indemnity disputes. She has worked on large scale discoveries, advising clients in relation to their data protection obligations and to claims of legal professional privilege.

    Charlotte has a particular interest in matters relating to Freedom of Information, data protection, information technology, and intellectual property law and has advised a wide spectrum of clients, from transnational consumer goods companies to multinational insurers on these issues.

    Charlotte’s relevant experience includes:

    • Representing a professional regulator in High Court judicial review proceedings and advising on all matters arising as a result of the litigation
    • Defending a renewable energy company in international arbitration proceedings where the value of the claim was in excess of €100 million
    • Acting for a well-known international accountancy firm in High Court proceedings relating to the interpretation of certain provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2014
    • Advising a well-known insurance company in relation to updating its privacy notices for clients and service users in light of the increasing use by the business of AI assisted software, having regard to its obligations as a data controller under the GDPR
    • Advising a multinational insurance company in relation to a specific query arising in relation to the to the processing of special category data and criminal convictions data
