Katy specialises in defending claims against legal professionals. She has over 12 years’ experience in advising clients across a range of sectors but predominately acts for solicitors, law firms, and their insurers.

Katy spent six months on secondment within a claims team at an international insurer based in London, giving her valuable insight into the needs of her clients.

Katy’s relevant experience includes:

• Acting for a national firm of solicitors in a claim relating to the proposed purchase of a £1m residential property, securing a discontinuance days before trial.
• Defending a professional negligence claim in connection with advice given by solicitors in the course of acting for a defendant in a high-profile criminal prosecution.
• Acting for a firm of solicitors in a claim brought by a peer-to-peer lender involving allegations that the solicitors had negligently failed to advise that changes to the structure of a deal to acquire development land would impede the value of the lender’s security.
