Overview

We offer a 'one-stop' residential legal  service for housebuilders, including planning, development, construction, and plot sales. Our integrated approach brings together specialists in corporate, tax, and litigation to support transactions efficiently and effectively. 

We can support you with:

  • Drafting and negotiation of strategic land acquisitions, including conditional purchase agreements, options, and collaboration agreements for residential development and mixed-use 
  • Negotiating planning permissions and planning agreements, including negotiating S106 agreements 
  • Advising on construction projects, from consultant appointments to building contracts, collateral warranties, and dispute resolution with employers, contractors, and sub-contractors 
  • Advising on environmental issues, including the development of brownfield sites, contaminated land, and impact assessments 
  • Delivering corporate and tax advice on joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, setting up LLPs, and other special purpose vehicles 
  • Supporting decentralised energy and sustainability requirements, including Energy Services Company (ESCo) models 
  • Advising on public/private partnerships, affordable housing, and schemes with the Homes and Communities Agency 
  • Handling residential conveyancing with a proven track record in high-volume, fast-turnaround plot sales 

Our approach 

We understand the complexities of long-term strategic projects and the financial challenges housebuilders face. Our experienced strategic land specialists help maximise returns and maintain flexibility. We identify site constraints early and embed solutions within contractual documentation to reduce risk.

  • Advising Vistry Partnerships in a joint venture with Torus Developments, on the purchase of the Peel Hall site in Warrington – One of the largest recent land transactions to date in the North of England (112m deal, 17 acres, 1,200 homes). 
  • Advising Miller Homes on the development of Kingston Village in Newcastle 
  • Advising on a significant transaction for Countryside Properties at Clapham Park, London, in a joint venture with Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing, creating 2,842 homes across Clapham, Brixton, and Streatham 
  • Advising Kellen Homes on all aspects of the acquisition and onward land sales at Mosley Common, Wigan for an initial 800 homes
