Catriona’s background began in casualty claims acting on behalf of global and UK insurers in the defence of employer’s liability, public liability, and industrial disease claims before moving to our Professional Risk team in 2016 where she has had the opportunity to defend claims across a wide variety of professions including solicitors and barristers, accountants and financial advisors, and construction and architectural experts.

Catriona has also been able to use her casualty background to defend claims on behalf of doctors, dentists, physiotherapists, chiropractors, opticians, and private clinics. Catriona is listed in Legal 500 as a next generation partner in clinical negligence and she is ranked in Chambers and Partners for professional negligence.

Catriona’s relevant experience includes:

• Handling the first ‘film scheme’ litigation in Northern Ireland against local accountants, achieving an excellent outcome through mediation
• Successfully defending a solicitor’s negligence claim through provisions of the Limitation (NI) Order 
• Successfully deflecting a claim against a solicitor onto a builder following implementation of the Defective Premises Act (Northern Ireland) 2024
