Overview

International law firm DAC Beachcroft is pleased to announce that it has appointed its first Location Head in Hong Kong, where the firm launched an office in September 2024. Ross Risby has taken up the newly created role with effect from 1 May 2025 and will serve a three-year term.

Ross is a partner in DACB's Insurance practice. He advises on professional and financial lines insurance risks including Directors & Officers (D&O), both defence and claims coverage, and the monitoring of complex litigation often centred around offshore jurisdictions. After 30 years practicing in the London insurance market, Ross relocated to Hong Kong last year to help launch DACB's newest office in Asia-Pacific.

"We have hit the ground running in Hong Kong, and it's very pleasing that we are now in the position where we need a dedicated Location Head to lead the growing team there," said DACB’s Senior Partner Virginia Clegg. "Ross has the experience and know-how to ensure the office thrives, delivers its strategy, and builds its profile in this important market. I wish him every success in his new role."

Ross said, "It's an absolute pleasure to take on this new role, and I'm looking forward to leading the team here as we continue to grow.

"As a firm, we have been strengthening our shipping, trade and commodities, and marine insurance offering around the world, and Hong Kong plays a key part in this. In my new role, I will therefore be focused not only on developing our non-marine insurance capabilities and brand here in Hong Kong, but also on helping to link up our office with DACB's locations across Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Europe and beyond to offer our clients truly global shipping and marine coverage."

Situated in the Quarry Bay area of the city, DACB's Hong Kong office, together with association firm CK Lee & Co, provides both international and Hong Kong law advice. The office focuses on the insurance and shipping industries, providing a comprehensive suite of services to the reinsurance, insurance, shipping, trade, and commodities markets.

In addition to Hong Kong, DACB has an office in Singapore, where it has been operating since 2011.
