Alex specialises in providing coverage advice under D&O /management liability, crime, professional indemnity and warranty, and indemnity insurance policies. In doing so, she can apply her understanding of the pressures and priorities of her clients, having completed secondments in an underwriting team in the London Market and at a global professional services firm.

Alex has extensive experience conducting substantive coverage investigations and advising her clients on a range of issues, such as breach of fair presentation duties, notification, and aggregation. She also acts in a monitoring capacity on a number of complex claims, often with international elements.

Alex also has experience in the drafting of management liability wordings. 

In addition to her coverage work, she frequently defends directors and corporates in civil claims and is experienced in reaching commercial resolutions to such matters, including via mediation.

Alex’s relevant experience includes: 

• Coverage and monitoring in relation to a large fraud investigation involving over 10 separate companies and individuals where directors were accused of defrauding HMRC of tax in excess of £150m 
• Advising and securing attractive settlement of a coverage dispute (proceeding to arbitration) regarding a high-profile financial regulatory investigation advanced against an insured director and company 
• Coverage and monitoring role in respect of a host of D&O (and employment) claims arising from the disintegration of the board of directors of an insured company 
• Advising and securing favourable settlement at mediation of a coverage dispute regarding restitutionary losses and the intersection of the Insolvency Act and Companies Act allegations against a director
